1. About us and the Services

Laneway Analytics Pty Ltd (ABN 80 600 277 781), trading as Joey ("Joey", "we", "us"), provides tools that help parents and legal guardians analyse their children's connected accounts (e.g., iMessage via Joey Desktop) to surface safety risks and provide guidance (the Services). These Services Terms form a binding agreement between Joey and the individual who creates an account (you, the Parent/Guardian).

2. Eligibility & authority

  • You must be 18 years or older to create a Joey account and use the Services.
  • You warrant that you are the parent or legal guardian of each child you add, and that you have lawful authority to enable monitoring for that child.
  • Children/teens may not create Joey accounts.

3. Purpose''limited use & prohibited uses

Purpose. Joey is provided solely to help parents/legal guardians promote the online safety of their own minor children by analysing connected accounts for safety risks and providing guidance.

Prohibited uses. You must not use Joey to:

  • monitor any adult (e.g., spouse/partner, ex''partner, employee) or any person who is not your minor child or legal ward;
  • conduct or facilitate covert surveillance, stalking, harassment, or unlawful monitoring;
  • access accounts without lawful authority or in violation of platform terms or laws;
  • attempt to conceal Joey's presence where a platform requires or reasonably expects notice.

We may limit, suspend, or terminate the Services if we reasonably suspect misuse.

4. Accounts, security & 2FA

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for activity under your account. We recommend enabling two''factor authentication (2FA). We use Auth0 as our authentication provider.

5. Data sources & Joey Desktop

To analyse iMessage, Apple requires a local device backup to a computer. Joey Desktop automates this standard Apple backup, extracts the Messages data needed for analysis, and uploads it securely. The first sync may take longer; subsequent syncs are typically faster and may run in the background.

6. Subscriptions, renewal & cancellation

If you purchase a paid plan, fees are charged in advance for the selected term and auto''renew until cancelled. You may cancel any time, effective at the end of the current billing period.

Refunds. Except as required by law (including your Australian Consumer Law rights and other mandatory consumer protections), fees are non''refundable.

7. Important disclaimers

AI & accuracy. Joey uses automated analysis and AI. Outputs may be incomplete or incorrect and are provided as guidance only.

No professional advice. Joey does not provide medical, psychological, educational, or legal advice. In an emergency, contact local emergency services.

8. Data & privacy

Your use of the Services is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Key points:

  • No model training on child content. We do not use your child's message content to train our models.
  • Telemetry (opt''out). We may collect de''identified, non''content telemetry (e.g., usage statistics, detector performance, error rates) to operate and improve Joey. You can opt out in Settings.
  • Storage region. We host primary data in Australia (AWS ap''southeast''2).

9. Intellectual property

We retain all rights in the Services. You retain your rights in your and your child's content. You grant Joey a limited, revocable, non''exclusive licence to process data solely to provide and support the Services (including security, debugging, and required analytics).

10. Support; access, correction & deletion by email

Support is available via support@joeyfamily.com. To request access, correction, or deletion of data, email support@joeyfamily.com from your account email. We will take reasonable steps to verify your identity (see Privacy Policy - Auth0 2FA) before actioning your request and will respond within a reasonable time. On deletion, we remove data from active systems promptly and from backups within 30-90 days.

11. Third''party services

Some features integrate third''party services (e.g., Apple backup workflows). Your use of third''party services may be subject to their terms and policies.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Services is limited to the fees you paid for the Services in the 12 months before the event giving rise to liability. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these Terms limits your non''excludable consumer rights (e.g., under the Australian Consumer Law).

13. Governing law & jurisdiction

These Services Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. The courts of Victoria have non''exclusive jurisdiction. This clause does not limit any mandatory rights you have under the laws of your country of residence (e.g., EU/UK consumer protections).

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide reasonable notice (e.g., email or in''app notice). Your continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
